onward
it has been a great while since i’ve written.
here is what happened.
after many years as JFK’s guitarist/cellist T Miller left the band. we celebrated his departure with a big show at the mad frog, possibly the most fun i’ve had all year. thanks to everyone who came out to send him off in style. thanks to former members for the first real SWIM era JFK reunion ever. and thank you t, i will always love you. and will take you up on getting that drink soon.
it is not my style to wallow.
so… onward!
we have a new guitarist! his name is john. we think you will like him as much as we do. he is a super nice guy. just graduated from CCM, works as a recording engineer and writes songs. his life is music and he claims he has always wanted to be in a band like this. aw. that is nice. he is a nice guy and we are super optimistic. i want to build up some suspense so that’s all you get for now. his debut with the band will be at the midpoint music festival september 25th. fitting. the next time i see him i will conduct a brief interview and put it up in this blog.
check the shows page, we’re getting some stuff happening including our big annual halloween costume contest. fun!
i am dying here. school and working are kicking my ass and i am not recording or making as much music as i would like. i am having doubts about school. i want to get a bfa so bad but everyday that i cannot more completely devote myself to music, i die slightly. and it is hard to be motivated when you are half dead. it is cyclical not a good place to be. perhaps this slow dying is good for me. at least it is only temporary. i just need to get something out.
eric stewart and i have been talking about reconnecting on some creative projects. perhaps helping me get the JFK record finished, maybe a new music video or promo stuff… not sure yet. but we are both feeling some intense need to put something big and meaningful out into the world. sculpting little clay balls is just not cutting it for me right now.

i have about five more songs for this record that i have not been able to record. they are dark. they are about love lost, the desert, and bee stings.
tomorrow i am going to new york for the weekend to do a show.
i think i’m going to go to chicago in a few weeks to work on some dance hooks for a studio.
