friday november 2nd i have an art show as part of Covington, KY’s First Friday gallery hop. Covington, particularly the Mainstrasse area, has become awfully artsy and hip in recent years. Downtown Cincinnati has some cool galleries and stores too, but a lot of young people are crossing the Ohio river to go out in Covington where they can smoke and crime isn’t so bad. if you’ve never participated in a gallery hop and are even remotely interested in seeing art i strongly encourage it. it’s cool alone, makes for a great date, and is fun in a group. you don’t need to know anything about art and there is no admission. there is no dress code; some people dress up and some don’t. basically, you walk around from store to store, look at paintings and things, and enjoy complimentary wine and hors ‘d oeuvres. what’s not to like? if you’re feeling social you can talk with artists about their work. if you’re uncomfortable talking with people you don’t know, you know me so you can stop by and talk to me. i love art openings.
i’ll be hanging out with new artwork on display at Swayne on Main, a hair salon that stays open late once a month to participate in the art walk.
518 Main Street, MainStrasse Village
Covington, KY 41011
i will have some of the “heartwork” for the record and hopefully some new larger pieces on canvases in a similar style. some of these will be for sale. i have recruited two fantastic photographers from NKU to display stuff with me, Joshua White and Joseph Koehl.
If you can’t make it out on the 2nd, they will leave my art up at the store for two months. you can stop by just to see it, or schedule to get your hair cut and styled while you’re there. the place is very cool and they’re always playing cool music. i am partial to the stylist Katie Shell. she gives me good hair cuts and we talk about music and detroit and cheap air fares.
